Corría la primavera del año 1983, cuando recibí una llamada del tempranamente desaparecido Pedro Bernal. Me ofreció entrar a trabajar en Radio España de Barcelona (donde ya realizaba todos los sábados la claqueta) como productor.

"Necesito un productor para Joaquin Soler Serrano que regresa a la casa". Mi primera reacción fue de pánico....Entrar a trabajar a jornada completa era mi mayor deseo, pero hacerlo como productor (era la primera vez que iba a realizar esa función) de un mito, de un maestro, de uno de los profesionales que mas admiraba....producía una especie de terror, de pensar si uno estaría a la altura, que daba vértigo. Yo entonces tenía 23 años.
Conocer a Soler Serrano me impacto, trabajar con él hizo que lo admirase mas todavía, y con el paso del tiempo estoy convencido de que hoy despedimos a uno de los mejores profesionales que ha dado la radio a lo largo de su historia. No se ponía nunca nervioso, sabía lidiar con todo tipo de circunstancias, aunque estas fueran adversas. Tenía una cultura inmensa. Utilizaba el lenguaje con una maestría que te hacia intentar mejorar día a día. Joaquin hace años que no sabía nada de ti. La última vez me emociono que con tu sencillez y tus primeros achaques, me saludaste como si el tiempo no hubiera pasado. Descanse en paz un gran hombre, y un gran profesional.
